External Hardrive

I just purchased a new external hard drive and have loaded everything on it from my computer and when going to disconnect it i always get the same message that it is in use. I have downloaded an unlocker that allows me to safely remove it. Is there any way to fix it so i do not have to unlock it every times

I also had to download Unlocker to get rid of this problem, but when I just kept my XP updated, the problem seemed to have gone away. In any case, this was never a problem for me in Vista nor 7.
