External PCI-e card on laptop?

Hi, I was browsing around and came across this:

I was just wondering how well this works.

Doesn't that express card slot limit the card greatly? Is there an alternative, non-hindering port that can be used for this?

If this were possible I would change my shopping goals for my laptop.

Graphics cards in external PCIe bays are starting to become viable, with the introduction of high bandwidth connectors such as Thunderbolt. However it is a pretty immature solution, and not supported very well on the software side by AMD/Nvidia.

It will happen eventually, but right now its not that good a solution.

I was only considering this so that I may buy a cheaper, well built laptop with a good processor and just game at home with this set-up.
