Extracting data from UX31 hard drive with an msata adapter

Hi there,

I have an ASUS UX31. When Microsoft offered me to upgrade to 10, without backing my computer up, I started to install. But unfortunately, it did not complete. Now I cant run my laptop, because there is only a message saying " missing operating system".
To save my data, I bought the adapter (http/www.ebay.de/itm/SATA-Ad... and inserted my sandisk hard drive. I plugged both usb connectors to a working computer but, it says "you can use it after having formatted" I don't want to lose my data.
I may not have properly protected the HD by using anti static bag, may I have lost it or do I need additional software to read the contents of my laptops main Hard drive?? May you help me out?

Hi,

I'm not so sure about that adapter you've used but I would suggest for you to try one of these that may do the trick. It's an enclosure that makes your HDD as an external drive that makes it plug and play and would act like USB drive.

Thank you for your response, but I'm afraid it won't help. Because my adapter has the same features. Once I bumped to a message in forums (but I can't find it now) saying; to make the transfer we supposed to install an operating system??? or so..
