Anybody know what sort of audio systems were likely to have been used to
produce this movie/documentary/opinion-piece ?

What mics ?

The one on the front of the camcorder, I suspect.

I enjoyed the film but the sound was awful...

Hmm, something not very accurate, yet transparent? Lots of distortion and
plenty of bottom (looking at Mr. Moore himself!)... and the stereo spectrum
leans to the left heavily :)

Sorry... :)

The sources are so diverse, that homoginizing them would be very difficult.

On the other hand, a more recent film has some very good sound:

Don you mutton head, that's really a BS piece of work. They have clips of
Sean Hannity in their illegal video that are supposed to show that FNC is
biased right ( "Just 140 more days till President Bush is reelected" ) but
leave out that Alan Colmes does the same thing ("Just 139 days till John Kerry
is elected President of the United States.")

They use archived clips that were never in fact aired without properly
putting them in context, and they use copyrighted air footage without
permission in violation of our copyright. And they use "newsmemos" from John
Moody our news VP to try to show that we are biased right, when truth be told
most of the anchors here follow the major stories on their own, ignore for the
most part his synopsis's, and without providing the context of what "newsmemos"
from any other major News organization look like. We have a standing offer to
release all of our memos if the other major news organizations will as well,
and let the public decide what the context is and who has a more fair and
balanced appproach to the issues of the day. Worse, they had exactly "one"
disgruntled ex-employee from the newsroom in their highly promoted PR "Opening"
of this illegal work, while they led everyone to beleive they had legions!

*I* could have come up with more disgruntled ex-employees than they
did, quite easily actually. Personally, not speaking for my employer, the
guys who made the film are dumbasses. Which is probably why *you* like it

There's an article in the current Pro Sound News about sound for the film.
