Solved! Failing receiver controls

My pioneer surround receiver has stopped responding to both it's own controls and those of the remote. Must be plugged in or out for any use.

Sounds like the receiver CPU is broke. Hope it's under warranty. Not a cheap fix.
You can check with United Radio in Syracuse NY if you are in the US. They are reliable and knowledgeable.
