If it is voluntary it is a pointless waste of time. Stop wasting resources on it. Why isn't there a 30 second review group set up to validate this nonsense before it balloons to a boondoggle?

"Hey, Bob, can we force adult websites into a .xxx domain?"
"Nope, couldn't be done easily, cheaply, and it can be circumvented with little effort given existing technology, Ted."
"Hmmmm, okay, forget it then."

There I could have saved everyone a lot of time, money, and energy years ago!

Why not make all adult sites use a different port other than port 80. People could block that port in their router, firewall or browser. I can't think of an easier way to manage this for parents.

Trying to force all sites to move to an xxx domain won't work because you will have name collisions. adult.com and adult.net would both want adult.xxx.

[citation][nom]Mr_Man[/nom]They'll be blocked by parents and others who wouldn't want them visited anyway. It's not like IPs are blocking them; it'll be a software/user decision.[/citation]

That's the point. The p0rn web site owners will never switch to .xxx domains since it will be so easy to block

If the schools, libraries and workplaces can block p0rn sites just by blocking .xxx domains, p0rn sites will recieve less visits and they will earn less out of publicity.

I'm not saying that blocking adult sites in non appropriate contests is a bad thing, but unless every one of these sites are forced to change to .xxx these domains will never be bought making them therefore pointless.

[citation][nom]knowom[/nom]The government should step in and force porn sites to use a .xxx domain tho the likely hood of it is slim to none. Personally I could care less, but it would make it easier for schools, libraries, workplaces, and parents to block said sites and cut down on said smut from being accessed in the first place if they don't want it to be.[/citation]
Oh really? Then who gets to say what should be in a .xxx domain and what not? Is Playboy considered porn? What about sexy wallpapers? Manga? Non TPA fetishes?

My point is that it's not the government's job to decide what's "too much" to be in a non .xxx domain.

I agree with you, gov getting in would make it messy figuring out what is porn, but what I want to know is what is, non TPA fetishes?

[citation][nom]arguggi[/nom]Who is going to buy .xxx domains when their so easy to be blocked?Epic Fail[/citation]

I guess Dad's around the country can't say their kid must of pulled it up 😛

The A stands for ass. You figure out the other 2 😉

xxx makes lots of sense. You guys just aren't thinking about it properly. Yes, xxx will be easy to block. Yes, blocking xxx won't block all adult sites, but it will filter out quite a few and very easily. But here's the upside and reason for having xxx. People LOOKING for adult material know exactly where to look: ???.xxx. It makes finding porn easier for those able to and willing. Current adult sites will keep their current domain plus have the xxx site for easier searching. It also opens up a lot of new possibilities for others to get in on the business before all the good names are taken up. The one other thing it will do is provide yet another stream of money for the registrars.

You under estimate your beauty, and how preverted the human race can be.
