Before this story broke, I was generally a supporter of these measures (Although I don't live in the US so it doesn't affect me).

But after I read about this, I've become a lot more cautionary towards laws designed to "counter terrorism". Just like in this case, it can be severely misused.

Yes there are verses in the Qu'ran that are all puppies and flowers. Yes there are verses in the Bible that are violent. Here's the catch:

1) The bible's violent passages are specific to a time and place, one that ended over 2k years ago with the coming of Christ.

2) The Qu'ran's "puppies and flowers verses" were the earlier ones that were ABROGATED by the so-called "sword" verses. Thus, as any good Muslim knows, the reigning interpretation of the day holds the violent verses as the most authoritative. If you disagree with me, please convince Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, and Saudi-Arabia first.
