I have a 8 gb file... I want to compress it to its minimum possible size without loosing any content from it. Is it possible ? If so, what software or technique do I use ? thanks!

Solution
Popular loss-less compression formats are ZIP, RAR, 7Z etc. Plenty of free-ware and paid programs to perform the job. Windows XP and later all support ZIP files (right-click on the file, "Send to", "Compressed file").

But - if your 8gb file is already compressed (eg, video, audio, photo, or ZIP), compressing it would result in zero, or even negative, results.
