Ok so I have my choices narrowed down to 2 laptops.

1) ASUS N53SM-ES72 http://www.amazon.com/N53SM-ES72-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Silver-Aluminum/dp/B007BY57Y2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080)
Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.2GHz) Quad-Core
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2G
6GB DDR3 1333MHz , 4 SODIMM Sockets, up to 16GB
750 GB 7200 RPM

2) Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5A-S09US http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Series-NP700Z5A-S09US-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B006PAAMA2/ref=lh_ni_t

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
8GB DDR3 RAM
500 GB HDD
15.6" Full HD (1366x768)
AMD Radeon HD6750 (PowerXpress) Graphics
Intel Core i5-2450M (2.45 GHz)

I really like the portability of the Samsung, and the graphics card is better. The only thing I do not like about it is the i5 vs the i7 in the ASUS. Thoughts please!

Out of those two, I would go with the ASUS N53SM-ES72 because of its significantly better display. The Samsung Series 7's 1600x900 display has poor image quality due to low contrast, but it does have a decent resolution for its size (1600x900 - contrary to what you listed)

However, if you would like a faster GPU, then consider the Sager NP6165. It has a NVIDIA GT 650M.

Sager NP6165 (i5-2450M, GT 650M, 15.6" 1920x1080 glossy display) - $949 no tax
- Select "Windows 7" under the configuration option labeled "Operating System" or the laptop will come without Windows installed.

Do keep in mind that the screen in this model is glossy, while the screens in the laptops you are considering are matte. However, you may upgrade to the excellent 95% NTSC gamut anti-glare display if you so choose.

Don't hold it to priority to get a Core i7 processor unless you have a particular need for one. Gaming is bottlenecked primarily by the GPU.
