I had an issue with an aftermarket battery not being recognised by the dell bios and not charging. After trying the fix of removing the battery, booting into windows etc like most threads suggested, it still did not work.
What I did (and so far it has fixed the problem, and the battery still charges after rebooting) was:
When I did that, I saw the battery starting to charge. It was totally dead and took about 4 hours to recharge. After rebooting, the warning from the bios was gone, windows detected it, and it charges fine.
Hopefully this helps.
What I did (and so far it has fixed the problem, and the battery still charges after rebooting) was:
- With the power off, unplug the battery from the motherboard.
- Boot into the operating system (Windows in this case).
- CAREFULLY plug the battery back into the motherboard with the O/S running.
