Question Fix for Dell XPS12 Battery not recognised

I had an issue with an aftermarket battery not being recognised by the dell bios and not charging. After trying the fix of removing the battery, booting into windows etc like most threads suggested, it still did not work.

What I did (and so far it has fixed the problem, and the battery still charges after rebooting) was:

1. With the power off, unplug the battery from the motherboard.
2. Boot into the operating system (Windows in this case).
3. CAREFULLY plug the battery back into the motherboard with the O/S running.

When I did that, I saw the battery starting to charge. It was totally dead and took about 4 hours to recharge. After rebooting, the warning from the bios was gone, windows detected it, and it charges fine.

I'm glad you found the fix, and I am sure many XPS owners will appreciate your sharing this, but 2 things:

1. What's the laptop model?
2. What's the question?

The model is 9Q23. There was no question, just a solution to the problem. I have been in IT for years, and was trouble-shooting this issue on my system. I just wanted to post the fix I found to hopefully help others. Was this wrong?
