Flight Simulator 2000

When I look left or right using my hat switch key the display only shows the upper third of the scenery and the lower 2/3 of my screen is black with just an hour glass for several seconds, then it fills in the scenery. I have incressed my cache to 500 mb in the display mode but no help. Is there a fix out there for this as it does not do this in other programs.

My computer is a Packard Bell platinum 7800 with a P2 350 with mmx ,ATI Rage Fury 32mb of memory on card , 192mb of ram,6.4 mb hard drive 40x CD Rom drive.A Pixie 17 in Monitor
