The primary reason for this is because unlike the other FPS games, Fortnite has a plethora of functions and it can become frustrating to manage controls for all the functions. One of those functions is the building. The most important aspect of the game is indeed building structures, and if controls are not right, you may not build with speed that may ultimately get you killed. Therefore, to help you get an idea of how the building control settings should be like, I have come up with this guide. Let,’s see two methods for control settings for fast building:
Method 1: Use Keyboard
Most of the players in Fortnite Battle Royale use their keyboards to do all the stuff and especially building. Now, if you have good command over gaming through the use of keyboard and you don’t use buttons in mouse then definitely go for this method for building in Fortnite Battle Royale. This is because using the keyboard for performing all functions in the game is embedded in your muscle memory and you will build a lot faster while using keyboard keys rather than the buttons in the mouse.
Also, if you go for the mouse, then it is possible that using mouse buttons may hinder the time you take to build. Therefore I suggest that you stick to the keyboard. Now the problem with building using the keyboard is that the building slots are set to F1, F2, F3, and F4. And this is a distance that is hard to cover through fingers especially if you need to build faster. So what I suggest is that you rebind these keys to the keys that are nearest to your movement keys which are mostly WASD. In my opinion, go for:
• Z for Building Slot 1 (Wall)
• X for Building Slot 2 (Platform)
• C for Building Slot 3 (Ramp)
These 3 are the main slots in building so you can put slot 4 and slot five as F4 and F5 but make sure to put the main three slots i-e Wall, Platform and Ramp as Z, X, and C.

The second method that most of the professional players including Ninja use is to bind the buttons of your mouse with the building slots. Players who have been playing with mouse buttons from the times of Counter-Strike and DOTA 2 will not have much difficulty in adapting to the building controls of Fortnite Battle Royale with the mouse buttons. Therefore, I suggest you only to use mouse buttons if you have been already using them.
This does not mean that you cannot use mouse buttons if you are a newbie, you can always try using mouse buttons. What I am suggesting is that your muscle memory is already set on the keyboard so why not become more perfect in that. Anyways, let’s see the binding of mouse buttons used by Ninja, the mouse he uses is Logitech G502 that is one of the most popular mouse for gaming:
• Building Slot 1 (Wall) Thumb Mouse Button 4
• Building Slot 2 (Platform) Scroll Side Click Left
• Building Slot 3 (Ramp) Thumb Mouse Button 3
• Building Slot 4 Scroll Side Click Right
