Hello. A friend of mine is having issues with his laptop. He has an amd fx 8800p cpu, with integrated graphics. He said his computer was lagging, and decided to check for new gpu drivers. He went to amd's website, and downloaded and ran the automatic driver checker thing to see if there were any new drivers for his machine. It found new drivers, and proceeded to install them. He then walked away for ~10 minutes while they installed, and came back to a messed up pc.

The problem. His screen flashes white, then switches to his desktop, he in unable to run and programs, nothing. All he can do is watch his screen flash.

Rebooting doesn't help. When he tried to shut down, he gets some kind of 'application error.' Something about not being able to write something or other. It seems installing the new drivers somehow messed up his pc? Any ideas on how to fix this?

I figured he could try doing a windows repair by creating a bootable flash drive with windows 10 on it, then booting that but it seems like there should be a better way?

Thanks all.

Solution
it's possible that the new(updated) driver either is corrupted or has issues with the laptop.
Can you roll the driver back? Or uninstall the new driver and install an older driver.

You may need to go into safe mode to do this

See, he can't do anything with the computer at the moment, nothing loads when he tries loading stuff. I'll suggest he try booting into safe mode though. I agree that the new driver is probably at fault.
