Title says it all. I've tried nearly every trick I could find online and from friends to possibly clear this or get BIOS up. Been unsuccessful in all cases...

Haven't installed any updates in about a week - nothing externally is connected such as SD card/USB/HDMI/DVD.

Laptop is an Asus N53SM running Win7 64bit.

Ay tips on what could get it at least past the start up screen or into BIOS? Or maybe a piece of hardware that's gone inoperative causing this?

Cheers,
Luke

Solution
Try unplugging charger, remove battery, press power button for 10 or more seconds, replace battery, plug in charger, and give it a try - if it sticks again - hold power button down till it shuts down then start again (and cross fingers ;) )

Been trying that all day. Still nothing and most things I'm reading on are hinting towards a motherboard issue. I don't even have a grand or so to replace it entirely! )-:

It's immensely frustrating when the laptop is really important to a lot of things I do. Especially for FSX!

Nope, that's what is worrying me the most. Any other keys/shortcuts to try?

Appreciate the help!

I just opened the disk drive and left it open during a start up. Noticed its now completely silent! No HDD noise.. Nothing apart from the fan that eventually kicks in. Normally my HDD makes a sound when starting up and when shutting down. Seems possibly failed?

I don't suppose you could recommend an HDD? Never bought an internal one. Also, would I need to buy a new Win7? My serial is on the bottom of my laptop but not sure if it'll work. I'm assuming I'll need to take my keyboard off to access the HDD too.

Yeah I located it fine - my screws were under the rubber rests which is a bit silly, but makes for a clean design I suppose! I bought this from XoticPC January last year - little I knew my warranty is 24 months! Hopefully they can sort it.

Appreciate your help mate!

It's nice to have a fresh HDD in a way. I never realised how much rubbish I had on the old one and only lost a few things that weren't too important, thankfully. Will do!
