Games are now permanently lagging after unplugging battery charger

I was playing a game when I decided to unplug the battery charger from my laptop. However after I did that the game started the lag immensely. I tried plugging the battery charger back in but sadly no change.

I thought maybe a restart would solve the problem but it sadly did not. I ran a couple of system scans in the hope of finding something that might be affecting my laptop but the scans turned out clean. What I did notice was my disk usage was 100% most of the time. I tried checking for what might cause this in the task manager but couldn't find anything useful.

Thanks in advance

that's the Achilles heel of laptops, battery mode triggers power saver windows options which cuts your video and processor performance by 90%.
you have to go into windows power plan options to change it
