Hi!
I bought a MSI GE72mvr (GTX 1070) 4 months ago. It was working fine until about a month back while I was playing Far Cry 5 the screen went black and then recovered with the game still running. In the events log it said "Driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
About a week ago what has started happening is the display goes black and then recovers but the game crashes after display recovery and the same error is displayed in the events log. After searching online it looks as if its related to TDR.
I've tested many games (e.g. BF1, Shadow of War, The Witcher 3, PUBG) and all of them seem to crash now after some time. There is no fixed time for the crash to occur, it could happen after 5 mins or even after 30 mins. Temps are fine; Max CPU 87C, GPU 80C.
I've been troubleshooting on my own and have so far tried the following:
1. Roll back to various previous nvidia and intel drivers from December 2017 to present.
2. A fresh Windows 10 install.
3. Changed the TDR Delay value in the registry.
4. Underclocked the GPU by 200MHz.
5. Updated BIOS.
I just don't understand what could cause this type of issue so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
