Gaming Laptop For Student

I need something relatively thin, light, and quiet. Enough power to play pretty much any game 1080p 60fps. I am looking at the ASUS FX502VM for 899usd on amazon right now which is a steal. I5-6300hq, gtx1060 3gb, 16gb ddr4, 1080p tn panel. The concern I have with that is the i5, the 3gb vs 6gb graphics card, and I would rather have an ips panel. I also looked at the GL502VM, i7 6700hq, 6gb 1060, and an ips panel. Basically exactly what I want, but a bit pricy. I live in Canada and have a $1500 budget. Also I'm a student and I will be on the go and between living arrangements for the next foreseeable future so unfortunately a desktop is not really an option. I also need to be able to use it in class so no alienware, nothing too flashy. Thanks guys!

As a student with mobility as a priority, you should definitely keep an IPS panel at the top of the list. I'm looking at US sites, so this is just for reference. Is this the ASUS ROG GL502VM you're talking about?

It doesn't mention IPS, nor on the ASUS product page, so this could be a TN panel, a very good one, but still TN. For gaming it may not be a problem, because you're probably not going to move the laptop around once you've settled in front of it, but for everything else - typical student activities - it may not be worth the reduced viewing angles and washed-out colours.

You won't get a 10-series GTX card, but a 2GB 960M and this one has an IPS panel.
