For 1000$ you can get the GTX 660M, for 1200-1250$ (minimum) you can get the GTX 675M (good 20-40% difference at least)

The Y580, GTX 660M, I7-3610QM, 8GB DDR3, FullHD screen:

This suggested laptop looks nice, but my girlfriend asks if it's worth it.

I think that the Lenovo laptops may be the only ones under $1000 with a 660m, i think you can get other Lenovo laptop with a 660m under the price of the Y580 suggested but the resolution is not that good.

The laptop on that page can get up to a HD 7730m and according to notebookcheck.com the 660m is better that the 7730m.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7730M.72678.0.html

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-660M.71859.0.html

The 7730m is class 2 and the 660m is class 1.

I can't find that cards in crossfire in notebookcheck (im not sure they can CrossFire), the 7660g+7670m crossfire in notebookcheck is just over the single 7670m solution, so judging by that i guess that the performance gain may not be that great and the CF solution may suffer some problems that the 7660g+7670m suffers according to this page.
