Gaming laptop trumped for price and portability est Jan 15th

The razer blade a 2500 dollar laptop sporting such a price tag for being .88 inch thick with a GTX 660m video card; conclusion mediocre and over priced
In january the Idea pad Y480 also less than an inch thick and almost 2lbs lighter will be sporting a GTX 660m as well, for bout half the price.

I have been searching for a portable gaming laptop for a while when I learned this, I thought it was amusing, a more portable gaming laptop with an optional internal bluray drive minus the switchblade (which looks awesome btw)

I dont mean to bash the razer ( I would purchase one in a heartbeat if it wasn't so large 17.3, not very portable even if thin) but I found a smaller laptop thats also about 2lbs lighter with comparable specs

For $2400, if you can handle a little bit more weight, you can have a LOT more power than the Razer will ever offer.

$2400 is a fully-tricked-out 15" with a 680m, i7 extreme, SSD, bluray, 16GB+ RAM, secondary hard drive, 95% NTSC 1080p anti-glare screen and the works.

Yes, it will be a bit heavier and thicker, but who cares about a couple tenths of a pound and a fraction of a inch thickness when it almost triples your performance and makes heat a non-issue?

That's why I posted this, the Y480 doesn't cost 2400 (about half the cost) and is as slim and lighter to boot.

I found you pay a lot for the Razer name, and that little game pad they have, and the SFF I suppose, but still overpriced. I suppose if you had the cash to blow why not.

Well, to be fair to the Razer...

The Razer has some higher-end hardware than the Y480 can boast. Larger/better screen, SSD, numpad gadget, etc.

The Razer is massively overpriced, but it does indeed outclass the value-oriented Y480 in hardware everywhere but the GPU.

The Y480 is a really good choice, but you make sacrifices in features. (smaller screen, lower res, lower quality screen, no SSD, etc.)
