Im not sure why my last post was rated down... apparently facts are in inconvenient truth to some... Anyway one other thing that some were predicting (cloward and piven specifically) was that the collapse of the world economies would be blamed on capitalism. And Jun 2nd 2010 we have the precursor to that... from the world socialist website:

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2010/jun2010/pers-j02.shtml

Also to answer a previous question that was brought up about the 16th and 17th amendments... back then people still talked about the constitution, the founding fathers, and went to church. So in order to usurp power from the states and the individuals the progressives had to pass an amendment through each state legislature to get what they wanted. In the progressive era the vast majority of the state governments were listening to what washington told them to do (unlike now with the states suing the government over healthcare) so they passed both of them.

The 16th amendment was said to be tiny, 1% for those in the lower income brackets and topping out at 7% for the highest earners... its tiny dont worry about it... 5 years later the highest income was being taxed at 75%! The constitution said that all taxes must be apportioned equally according to population IIRC... but that wasnt good enough for the progressives they wanted to fleece the people at the top and play the class warfare card... why do you think they come out and say "tax cuts for the rich" every time someone brings up the idea that people should get to keep more of what they make?

The 17th amendment was billed as needed to prevent the problems selecting senators the state governments had leading up to and during the civil war. But anyone who has an ounce of brains knows that with slavery over and the former slaves given full rights as citizens (with major opposition by the democrats btw) there was no need for the 17th amendment as it was billed. What it really did though was take the voice of the state governments out of the federal government and turn the senate into a longer serving smaller number house of representatives. Its a way for the federal government to usurp power from the states and the individual... but thats not socialism nooooo

@Elmo Please dont call the tea party people teabaggers that just shows your ineptitude towards the issue. TEA is an acronym for Taxed Enough Already... not actual tea. That's why you dont see too many signs about gay marriage or any thing specifically aligned with the conservatives. We just want them to stop spending more money than they take in under the guise of helping us. Something that Jefferson warned us against.

I am a hardcore libertarian (according to the nolan chart) they dont get more small government than me. But that being said we do need SOME government but we do NOT need government pensions, welfare, food stamps, education subsides, "green" subsidies, federal retirement programs (social security), medical care, housing, funding for the arts and sciences, funding for new military weapons, and on and on and on... That's what the tea parties are about smaller government and smarter government so please refrain from calling people names just to jump on a left wing bandwagon.

for some reason I cant edit my previous post so I'll have to post another post.

@elmo also (sry forgot to add this previously)

neoconservatives are democrats who either changed parties or worked with Reagan while he was in office. I believe you coined a new term with neoliberal but I'd like to quote you from obama's own book "the audacity of hope"... from page 124 I think it is (bear with me this is from memory):

"to avoid looking like a sell out I surrounded myself with like minded people. The more politically active black students, the chicanos, the foreign exchange students, and the marxist professors."

Like minded people... marxist professors. Now tell me you can say hes not a marxist. please tell me how you can come to any other conclusion when he has communists and eugenicists (and admirers of both of those) in his administration?

for those that dont know a eugenicist is someone who believes in killing off the "undesirables"... you know the mentally handicapped, the blacks, the jews, the physically deformed through selective breeding... Cause as george bernard shaw said "there's no one I hate... but there are many people I'd like to kill."
