Get sound from my dvd blue ray to my tv

Why can't I get sound from my blue ray DVD player out to my tv

what cable are you using?

if its a HDMI theareticly you should get sound, however sometime with cheaper systems the separate the audio from the HDMI and move it to a separate, analogue output
