My coax input (the area where the cable cord is screwed into the back) is broken off. Is there anyway I can get local TV channels without using that option?

Solution
The antenna F connector on the TV is the only way to access the internal tuner. You can get an external ATSC tuner with HDMI output. The antenna will connect to that. Some of these have DVR functions as well as multiple tuners so you can record one channel and watch another.

Do you have other inputs for the TV? if there are rca jacks (red, black, yellow)
you could use the cable to a vcr. if you have an hdmi connection you could possible put the coax into dvd player. Is the coax from an antenna of from cable company?
Tell us what TV you have and what is connect to it.
