Awesome!

A brand like Google should take logo identity more seriously. It goes to show you that its an engineer firm not a design firm or any other firm.

do any iproduct have google nav yet??? didn't think so

Not to derail the comments train of Apple vs. Android, but I think the Gmail logo is impressive considering that is was a last minute effort by one guy. Bravo Google!

[citation][nom]ajkritch[/nom]A fairly typical bout of comments for a Tomshardware article.Every single Apple-bashing comment is rated above +10, where every comment that dares to defend Apple is hidden away with rating -20. All of this on an article that isn't even ABOUT Apple. There's a good reason why Hexus and AnandTech are held in such high regard in the tech industry compared to Tomshardware. I genuinely doubt the average age of readership here is greater than 18. I feel more sorry for the people who run Tomshardware than I do for the pre-pubescent fandroids that troll it hour after hour.[/citation]

Get over yourself.

The article title and intro are a bit BS - encourages the reader to assume it was a mistake that different fonts were used when it appears, when the story is read, that the split was intentional and logically derived.
Rushed, yes. Mistake ridden as a result, No.

Apple's sales figures and bank balance would suggest you're very very much mistaken, my friend.

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]Of course wait for the 6000 word reply from Watcha droning on about Apple battery life, starting with "Apple is the best at ... then copying in the whole of "A Tale Of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens ... then ending with and more blah blah blah, before getting marked down to -20, as much for spamming as anything else....Fact, you can have a spare and swap out a battery in almost every phone, apart from one, you can have 3 guesses but 2 don't count...[/citation]

Apple phones have the best battery life.

You can get mobile charges for iPhone the size of replaceable batteries.

And wow@this article turning into this debate - TRAGIC!

[citation][nom]simplec1[/nom]do any iproduct have google nav yet??? didn't think so[/citation]

Are there hundreds of other alternatives which work better? Thought so.

[citation][nom]amdfangirl[/nom]Age has nothing to do with maturity. We sometimes have civil discourse here, mind you.But how would I know? I'm the kind of hippee who avoids this with a cup and string. Best battery life methinks .[/citation]

Age and maturity are certainly linked to some extent.

Shhhh they think if they vote enough on tomshardware that Apple wont have the best selling phone and tablet of all time and that companies like Samsung will be entitled to legally copy everything about their product (except for the quality, battery life, reliability, and performance, of course).

But seriously, nail, head. +100,000

[citation][nom]amk-aka-Phantom[/nom]THANK YOU! Finally someone else who sees that... I so don't care if my phone is twice as thick as long as it has more battery life!!![/citation]

Pretty much all mainstream phones have cases which extend battery life whilst being thicker.

[citation][nom]amk-aka-Phantom[/nom]Yes.Pretty much everything.[/citation]

such as? Smartphone sales? Profit? Company value... ?

Nope, none of those.... hmmm

[citation][nom]of the way[/nom]ajkritch...I think it's just become an automatic response due to the very vocal "fanboys" from the past. And present. And the abundance of Apple "news" on the site, and relating things back to Apple when there really isn't much of a connection. And the fact that people are upset at a company that charges an exorbitant amount of money for mediocre parts and assume (not always correctly) that Apple users must not now very much about tech.Hey, I used a Mac for awhile. I did get it for free though.[/citation]

fanboys? Like the Android fanboys who cause the problem?

Abundance of Apple news? Not really shocking when you realise they are the biggest tech company in the world and have both the best selling smartphone ever and the best selling tablet ever.

'Exorbitant amount of money' , 'mediocre parts' = fanboy talking. When an Android handset has even half the GPU performance of the iPhone 4s - you can compare prices like-for-like. Or when the battery life on Androids isn't inexplicably bad. Or when their top-of-the-line model improves on their 5 megapixel camera. Or when their App store reaches the maturity of the Apple store. Or when Android supports phones for longer than 1.5 years. Or when customer satisfaction ratings for Android approach anywhere near the levels that Apple achieves. Or when the screen has the equivalent DPI of the iPhone 4s.

etc etc etc.

Amazing how many clueless people describe Apple as overpriced, yet believe they are the ones who are clued up. Astonishing, in fact.

GPU performance: true; and surprising. Since it took Apple almost a year since SGS2 came out to catch up on GPU/CPU performance by releasing the 4S, I'll just wait till next-gen Android phone comes out and dismisses the 4$ :)

Battery life: bullshit... 4S had problems with it from the start, and it's not bad on Androids.

Camera - sorry, top of the line Androids have 8MP and soon will have 12.

App store - I liked Android store WAY more, and yes, I tried BOTH. Apple store is full of paid apps and offers very few apps for specific purposes while Android has tons of great free stuff.

DPI: at some point it's just not noticeable. Then there's also Galaxy S2 HD and the like; and what Android REALLY needs is more high-resolution menu items. That's about the only thing that impressed me after 2 weeks of playing around with iPhone 4S and iPod Touch. SGS 2 still shreds those devices on everything else.

At this point, you'd probably ask me why I haven't bout SGS2 yet. Answer: I don't find ANY smartphones worth their money. I'd get Transformer Prime but it's not available here for the price it is in US.

GPU - We both agree, iPhone 4S over 2x faster. Even on phones released AFTER THE IPHONE 4S such as the Nexus or Droid Razr.
Battery life -

ANd seriously, saying 4S has issues with battery life, when comparing to Android? LOL.

Camera - You say the top of the line 'Android' has an 8MP camera, guess what, it doesn't. The flagship is the Nexus Prime, which has 5 megapixel camera. Furthermore, many reviews have pointed to the quality of the iPhone 4S lens being far superior even at same megapixels. Either way, you have to decide exactly which phone you are comparing to the iPhone 4S. You can't create a pic-n-mix based on parts from all different phones.

App Store - Apple has far more Apps, which are generally higher quality - and have greater security around them (even Charlie Miller can admit that). Only the other day there was an article on Toms about an app which is only on Apple for now. There's thousands of others, including loads of free ones like Sky Sports which simply don't exist on Android. Your personal preference can be for a lump of clay if you like - there are more apps on iOS.

DPI - the point at which it becomes noticeable is below that of the iPhone 4S, you know, the whole 'retina' marketing campaign actually had a scientific basis. Are you talking about the Galaxy S2 HD which isn't even out yet? That could not be a worse argument.

SGS2 has worse battery life, half as fast processor, lower resolution screen which is also bigger (making it visually even worse), can't wirelessly stream video to TV's, has a smaller app store, has no integrated iCloud, or Siri, has a lower quality camera (according to lots of reviews), has lower customer satisfaction ratings, and runs Android which always lags/freezes or experiences slow-down. And of course, Apple always offers support for their old devices for far longer than Android has.

So much 'shredding' of the iPhone 4S... lol

And by the way, even if the camera was as good, and the battery life was as good, and the app store was the same, and Android didn't leave devices unsupported after less than 2 years, and SG2 had Siri and iCloud etc etc etc... the 2x faster GPU alone would be reason enough to say that you can't compare prices since the iPhone 4S has better specifications.

Oh and it's also not a brick. 🙂

and besides, even if you claim DPI isn't 'noticable' - it still means you can't directly compare prices, given that the iPhone 4S is higher resolution it will of course cost more to manufacturer.
