gmail setup and transfer

i am thinking of switching to gmail, i was told that i can send emails from another email address from my gmail account and i was also told that i can receive emails from another email address in my gmail account how do i do that?.
i am aware that google likes to store user information and sort of keep track of its users, i've been told that there are ways to stop that, how do i do that? how do i keep my information on google services private as possible?

yes you can, go into advance settings and from there you can add more email accounts

This is only possible if you own the domain name of your current email address. Otherwise it will always be sent with your gmail address in the 'from' header.

i was told that gmail has 10gb of storage but on the gmail login web page it says "lots of space over 10.......... megabytes and counting" so does that mean gmail has unlimited storage and if it does why am i being told it only has 10gb? that probably sounds stupid but if i transfer all me yahoo email to my gmail email then there won't be enough space on gmail cause i have a lot of e-mail in my yahoo account.

when i transfer all my yahoo email to my gmail email, is there a way were i can send any new emails that my yahoo email gets into a folder and is there a way to send certain messages that my yahoo email gets to go into a sub folder in my gmail account?
