Google Forced to Filter Porn from Android Market?

If you want your kid to have a phone for emergencies, fine. I'm sure all the major cellular providers can get you set up with one of their inexpensive flip phones that can only call home and 911. There. I solved the problem by utilizing equipment and services already available and in use by the companies. Where is my check for saving people time and money. Though I hear protesting with picket signs is great exercise...

I couldn't legally buy pornography when I was kid. I had no computer, smart-phone, internet, etc. by which I could get porn. The kicker is: I STILL GOT IT! Even if you abolish all digital pornography from the globe, there is still that kid down the street who lets his friends see his dad's playboy collection for a buck. Don't these people remember puberty?

I've got this great idea! Why don't we buy kids pay as you go phones. They would have a certain amount of time/credits per time period. Any overages during that time period needs a damn good explanation or a "dark" period where the phone doesn't work because it's out of time. It's like they learn to be responsible or not, totally up to them.

2. Why would a kid have a smart phone? Youre kid doesnt need a smart phone to talk with his friends! Its the parents fault again, because they waste more money on an expensive phone with an expensive plan so that theyre kids can have internet access and become facebook zombies. PARENTS TELEVISION COUNCIL, its a lot better if you make ads for parents to watch their kids more intently so that kids dont burn those holy virgin eyes. By enforcing google to do this you are affecting the world...not that anyone needs porn, but its still exactly like becoming China.

The Parents Television Council(PTC) is not a government agency and it has no authority to invoke regulations on any entity(person or business). As such, they have no power to force anyone to do anything. Perhaps the article writer should focus more on fact and truth and not sensationalism. It does not help in conveying any type of point.

While I have no personal interest in having access to pornography on a mobile device, I am in no position to tell someone else that they cannot have access to it. Pornography, for better or worse, is an expression of free speech and no one has the right, in the United States or any outside force aimed towards the United States, to squelch free speech. This is a foundation that we fought for when claiming our status as a free and separate nation and it is high time that people start respecting it.

I certainly do not want my children, or any children, to have to witness someone getting their jollies in public, but we certainly do not need more "protecting the children" legislation. Any reasonable person, even those that consume pornographic material, knows when it is and is not appropriate to enjoy such material. Otherwise, there are laws on the books to deal with people that make a public spectacle of viewing pornography.

The PTC also needs to understand that no technological boundaries will ever stop minors from viewing pornography. Sure, the PTC and other groups can pride and boast themselves as champions and masters of the universe for getting stupid "age checks" on pornographic websites, but scores of minors are visiting those sites daily. These same children are also engaging in sexual activity, but this is all due to bad parenting.

Perhaps these groups should focus on bad parents and/or just deal with the fact that minors of a certain age(early teenage years and on) will always be curious about their bodies and blooming sexuality and no amount of legislation will ever stop that. If pornography did not exist, then something else would in its place.

Deal with it or make room for those that can.

I will agree that some form of parental controls should be available on the new smartphones but, if you give your kid a smartphone with a web browser, it really doesn't matter what the app store has in it.
