Question google maps

I recently made changes to my android phone which is using android version 14. I got fed up with endless notification tunes. I removed all notifications except my emails. Now when I want to use google maps, the location is not working. Location is switched to on in settings. I can’t think of what changes that I have made are/is responsible. The only app settings I can think of are, Google and maps.

Location is turned on and I am not using any VPN.

I have an older phone using Android 11. There are no differences that I can see.

Have you verified this? Not just ensuring location is turned on...

To enable location permissions for Google Maps on an Android device, you can:

Open Settings
Tap Location or Location App permission
Tap Google Maps
Choose to Allow or Deny location access for the app

Yes. When I walk around the map should follow.

I have done the following...
Settings -> Location -> On
Settings -> Apps -> Maps. WITH
Notifications - Blocked
Permissions - No permissions allowed
Remove permissions if app is unused - ON
Seta as default - In this app
Alarms and reminders - Not allowed.
