Where was I when this came out? I never even heard of it! well... I might of, but completely forgot about it. Perhaps if Google did a bit more advertising for this product it might of seen more traffic... O well...

wave was kind of an interactive email... never got anyone to use it with me but that was my impression.

I found it worked best for group reviewing documents, sorta like a real time wiki.

It was far to complicated and editable to replace email, im or irc.

You can try google wave alternative http/www.co-meeting.com. Co-meeting focuses on the text-based meeting. And you can import wave from google wave to co-meeting.

Real time wiki was just one of GW uses, for those who still want to explot easyness of contextual communication, apart from mentioned co-meeting there is rizzoma, it doesn't split discussion and documentation.
