Actually, that's only when it was founded as a company. It was being worked on well before 2004.

It's fair to compare, but not fair to mock the new site for not beating the older, more experienced site.

Um, I think Schmidt has a counting issue. Facebook has not been around for 12 years.

If it's fair to say Facebook existed for 12 years because it was being "worked on" for 4 years before launch, it's not fair to say Google+ has been around for 12 months, because it doesn't include developing time. Also, I would add the time of Wave and Buzz fiascos in the equation!
