Are there any GTX level laptops that the manufacturer has actually built with Optimus. I want to be able to play most games at max settings, but I also would like to be able to surf the web on my couch without having to be plugged in.
Alienware M17x R3 GTX has a GTX 580M with optimus.
Toshiba Qosmio models have GTX 560M with optimus.
Toshiba one is only available with the screen option that reviews say is shitty. The Alienware's just always seem overpriced.
If I dropped down from 1920x1080 to a 1600x900 resolution would a gt 555 handle most games at native resolution? Seems like most reviews only look at 1920x1080 or 1366x768. Not the in between.
Really wish the Asus or the Clevo's supported Optimus.
Yes the GT 555M can handle most of the games at high settings in the native resolution. Similar performing ati counterpart is the 6770M.
But I hardly see any laptop with bigger than 720p resolution on these 2 cards and a GPU switching capability. Alienware MX14 has 555M with optimus. Not sure if its worth the price though.
