This guy hasn't been convicted of anything, and there are a dozen perfect explanations for a situation like this (which due process is designed to sort out) but instead, you all have convicted him without so much as a shred of evidence in your favor.

You should be ashamed. It's a shame the newspaper printed his name, it's just ammunition for you people to start a crusade with. I won't call it a Darwin award; instead, you all have been nominated for "biggest bunch of ignorant, knee jerk witch hunters". Check back during award season for the results!

It is simple human nature and that will never change. The evidence sounds pretty convincing to me and he will have his day in court.

Godwin aside, do you think it's just a LITTLE bit of a stretch to compare an *accused* child pornographer (of which your evidence is a guy at a bar who insisted the photos he saw were child pornography, despite you having NO idea whatsoever if the guy could even see straight much less accurately assess the legality of photographs) to Hitler or Stalin?

That the barman was looking for the guy's phone number or info is ridiculous. Why would he need to, a phone is an important and valuable device because of all the numbers and crap stored on it. There are numbers on mine that I don't have anywhere else, the barman knows the guy's coming back, he's just being very nosy.

There is no privacy issue, the barman isn't a government agent or police, he can snoop all he wants when you give him your phone, the most you can do is sue him, but then I doubt you'll get anything since no monetary damage is usually caused except in this case where the guy will not be able to collect wages from jail.

Of course we can convict the guy right now, what else are these message boards for except to speculate and condemn? As for the pictures, they have to be of naked underage girls or else the guy has a good defense. Underage but clothed girls in sexy poses do not qualify as child porn, or else every page on Myspace and Facebook would be considered child porn.

Lesson learned, never carry child porn on your cellphone, at least keep it on your harddrive, but make sure to format and then physically destroy the drive if you want to throw it away.

I probably would have picked it up to see how it was different from my cell phone - what features it offered that mine didn't, etc. I also know that there is an area on each cell phone that says who the owner of the cell phone is. It's a great way to try to get it back if it is lost by accident. If you don't know where your's is at, go find it and put your info in. Can mean the difference between getting the phone back if an honest person finds it.
I hope they nail the guy to the wall for having child porn, let along child porn on his phone.
