Schools like that that issue laptops to students will have to stop if that family wins the law suit, it will represent to much liability. People wonder why we have an antiquated and uninspired education system.

The only successful hacking of a webcam without the use of malware was on a mac... and the guy even got into the kernal code to turn the light off.

I still use ICQ, well really Pidgin to access my ICQ account... but I don't have any other im accounts so... is there a point to using something else? I mean besides Skype which can do video that is.

i always keep my webcam facing the back of my desk when not in use. my dad keeps duct tape over his laptop's cam..

It's kind of remind me of the spying-student school deal, but still this is was nasty-ass sick!!! I never use the icq cuz i never knew of it's existence. As for that idiot: Shinu, Kono Hentai!! This incident tells me that when someone has a webcam, there is always a pervert or an ID Thief waiting on the other end to hack you're pc and control you're webcam. Since i never use one, i should be careful when i plug my old one, especially when my pc is not connected to the net

I just use trillian. I keep my ICQ on there since I have a large group of friends in various networks from over the years. Its nice to connect with a few of them every so often.

I disable my webcam through device manager. Hopefully that prevents these things.
