Hard drive not detected in bios

Hello,
My laptop hard drive isn't recognized in bios (says no operating system) and I can hear it clicking upon startup. Is there anything I can do?

When the computer 'loads' it says the following:

UPDATE

I was able to find a fix for the PXE, however now when the laptop loads all that is displayed is "Operating System not found" it won't let me boot from the CD drive, or rather it isn't booting from it.

Your hard drive has bit the dust!
If you've got data on it that you need you could buy an external 2.5 hd enclosure and put the HD in that. Then try to access with another computer.

I was looking around and found that it might be a corrupt mbr; when I insert winvista cd to try and repair, it gives "bad mbr" in one of the error reports.

What os do you have, there are commands to repair the boot record
XP=at command prompt, fixmbr

If you get it up and running back up your stuff asap, something killed the mbr!

It's Windows Vista, when I insert the recovery disc, click repair there is no operating system that is shown, and after entering "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" in the command prompt it gives the following error "the system cannot find the specified path"
