I have an XPS Ultrabook. The ran into a problem today where the computer froze. Windows 7 is installed on the 32gb internal hdd. Windows was running fine. I closed the lid so I could connect an HDMI cable. I close it first then connect because that's the only way the sound will transfers to the tv. When I opened it, the mouse icon would move but nothing would respond. Upon a hard restart, windows will show the first screen with the loading bar and then go to a blank screen where I can move the move but nothing appears.

I tried reinstalling but it hangs when trying to format that hdd when using install software. I can't format either using linux and it won't mount in linux. It's like its permanently busy. I did a memory check which produced no errors. Any ideas??

Sounds like a bad SSD. If your under warranty, your in luck and it would be covered.

If no longer under warranty, it's time to start pricing replacements.
