Hard to find unlocked phone for metro pcs

I was told by sellers of phones on ebay, that metro pcs is neither gsm nor is it a cdma phone; so their unlocked phone won't work with metro pcs.

I didn't buy one yet. That's a good idea to go there, to metro store, and check with them; before I buy. Thank you for your response.
