Hardest to figure out I've ever seen. How do you hook up before surround sound to a 50in HD TV. A diagram maybe?

You will have to list the model of the TV and all the devices/signals you want to hook up.

There are two general ways to do it.
1. Connect all your sources to the TV (usually with HDMI). Connect the audio output of the TV to the surround sound. How you do that depends on the TV which may have HDMI-ARC, digital audio (coax or optical) or analog audio (headphone or line level. You may need a converter depending on what inputs the surround system has.
2. Connect all your sources to the surround sound system. Connect the HDMI out of that to the TV HDMI-ARC input.
You will need to configure the TV and HTS to work correctly. Check the owners manuals.
