Question Hardrives.

Hi new to the forum with a question. My toshiba laptop has died and will not boot. Its quite old 2012. I have taken the hard drive out. It is a 2 5 " model. Can I plug in a Sata external HDD SSD USB 3.0 adaptor to retrieve images from the hard drive. On another laptop. Regards Bill.

Probably, yes.

Don't try to boot from it.
And you will probably run into Permissions issues.

Look up TakeOwnership to get around that.


And for future reference, this is specifically what a good backup routine is for.

Hi all. Many thanks for your reply. Took delivery of Sata external hard drive adaptor. Plugged into my wifes HP laptop and has red and green lights working. But now have forgot password for her laptop. So back to square one. Will have to go to computer shop now. Bloody frustrating though. Thanks. Bill.
