having a problem connecting to laptop using hdmi

can u guys help me??? im having a problem with my tv sharp led aquos... it shown here that "USB 0" "HDMI 1" but i cant seem to connect to my laptop...
and my laptop cant detect it...

Set the HDMI out of the laptop as a 2nd screen. Set that to the native resolution of the TV. Try 1280 x 720.
The cable you use can affect whether it works or not especially a long HDMI cable. The order you turn on things or select the HDMI input that you connected to can also be a problem. Also it can take 5-10 seconds for the handshake to happen.
