HDMI was working perfectly before but lately whenever I turn on my pc (Dell g3590), I see the ubuntu logo but after that my monitor displays no signal. My laptop's screen is broken so I don't know what's going on. so what is going on and how do I fix it.

Solution
OK. So you can boot fine from a USB stick and all is OK. This suggests the hard drive is bad or corrupted. Have you tried to reinstall ubuntu? I mostly use Windows, so I can't be much help. Maybe someone else has a suggestion???

If the Logo is displayed, the display screen is probably not broken. Can you connect an external monitor and see anything? Does it appear to be booting up (disk activity light flashing)?
My laptop's screen display is broken, so I usually use an external monitor and that's where I see the ubuntu logo which disappears after a minute or two loading. Also yeah it does appear to be booting up, I know the laptop works fine since I booted to another ubuntu using my usb and everything was working fine there.
