Hdmi sound card

Hello,
i have ATI mobility Radeon HD 5650 grafix card in my laptop.i want to connect my 7.1 sound system to my computer through HDMI port.But i dont know how to do it.Do i need any external sound card???plz help.

Does your notebook have a HDMI port? If so, just connect your notebook to your sound system (I assume you have a surround sound system with HDMI inputs) via an HDMI cable.

To give a more detailed answer, what make/model of laptop are you using and what make/model sound system are you trying to connect it to?

Indeed. If you notebook has an HDMI port, you just need to download the ATI HDMI audio driver to get sound into either a TV or your stereo via your GPU.
