HDMI to phone adapter not getting audio

Hi I got a Samsung hdmi adapter connected it to my older flat screen Emerson tv , it displayed my Netflix movie but I got no sound .... what am I doing wrong ? I've tried everything I can think of

Did you check the settings in your phone? You may need to change the audio output type too.
