HDMI to VGA adapter

There is a really simple looking HDMI to VGA adapter so i'm guessing its a passive adapter rather than active. Will it work with a macbook's hdmi port?

A passive adapter will never work, because hdmi is a digital signal and VGA is analog. Even active adapters may have problems if the signal is hdcp protected.

Hello... Typically a HDMI has no analog pins on it for "passive" VGA adaptors.
