Solved! HDTV cuts off the edges of the screen.

I do not understand it, but whenever I hook up my laptop to my HDTV using HDMI the edges of the screen are cut off.

TVs will overscan the source sent into them to avoid blanks at the edges of the screen. This may be adjustable in the user menu or service menu.
