Headphones not working??

I had headphones which i originally used on desktop, i was going to travel sometime next week and i decided to check my laptop to see if everything was working fine. i use a little Logitech office mic(Logitech H340) and when i plugged it into my laptop it enabled 'USB Speaker' sound device and not the usual Headphone sound device. As a result i get no audio but the 'USB Audio' sound device pops up only when i plug the headsets in. this headset came with no drivers, i am not sure what to do so i came here for help.
