Headphones not working

My skullcandy headphone will not work when plugged into my Acer Aspire 5745PG laptop, the music is playing through the laptop speakers instead, they have been working perfectly for three years, just for some reason are not working today. Please help me ASAP

right click the speaker in the bottom right toolbar. Open playback devices. From there, Right click your headphones and select "default device" or maybe enable
