Headphones on Roku TV

We purchased a RCA Roku Tv along with wireless headphones. The hope was to be able to have the headphones for my husband who can't hear and have the volume on the tv at a comfortable level for the rest of the family to hear. The TV has a headphone jack on the back but when you plug the base in and use the headphones the volume on the tv does not come on. Is there a solution to this, that we might be able to have sound on the headphones and tv at the same time?

Modifying the TV to allow the TV speakers and headphones to work at the same time is possible but it would void the warranty.
Your only option would be to split the headphone output and connect both the transmitter and an external speaker to the TV.
