Headphones work with satellite box , not Smart tv.

We have jvc headphones that are connected to audio out on direct tv box. When we want to watch Netflix, etc. , they don't work. I have tried changing sound settings, but no luck so far.

What is your smart TV? The 3.5mm jack could be an input port and not an output, OR it could be for something else entirely; Samsung TV's for instance use a special 3.5mm jack for RS-232 control.

My tv is an LG 55Uf6800
