Headset mic stopped working

To start off, no idea if this is in the best section.

So i was joining a friends Gmod server and my mic cut out as i did for no apparent reason (to us at least) and has not worked after. Before that it was fine and joining it before was ok but its just stopped working. the settings seems to be the same as his and it is detecting my mic but not the voice itself.

Any advice would be apreaciated

It is most likely issue with headphones.
You can try downloading some free audio program like Audacity and try recording voice, in case if it works fine, then it may be some game settings, maybe friend muted you somehow.
If that is not case maybe your headphones have mute button ?
Also you can try settings in your computer for microphone setup.

we tried different methods to try to detect the mic sound like discord steam and the windows mic set up
