Heat problem?

I currently have a HP dv9700 with 2.0GHz CPU and nvidia 8600
I'm getting a new laptop with hopefully more than 3.0GHz CPU for extreme gaming. But my current laptop heats up like a frying pan without external fan, even worse when it's unplugged. Will this be a big problem with a even faster CPU?

Well, a laptop is sure not a splendid gaming platform and the chance that the new laptop will have the microwave behaviour as well is big. However, it also depends on what brand it is from. If they promote it with it being a decent gaming laptop it will likely have better cooling, if not it isn't really created for that task.

as tijmen007 pointed out, if the unit is being marketed as a notebook 'for extreme gaming', there's a good chance that the cpu and gpu cooling were definitely taken into strong consideration during the design.

looking at the picture gallery, it seems that sager did a nice revision of the cooling system over the NP5796 model.

i'd say as long as you don't insulate the base (covering up all of the bottom/side vents), you should be fine. depending on where you use the notebook (in terms of dust in the air), using a can of compressed air to blow out the vents every once in a while may be wise.

and with my laptop cooling pad, it should be fine then.
