HELP! APSIRE 5517 CANT REBOOT!!!!

Hello,
acer aspire 5517 ,, do not have recovery discs, or cannot get into windows,, just black screen with flashing cursor at top, how do you get into system from there to try to reboot or fix??????????

It sounds like it's having a hard time finding your boot device. Double check to make sure your hard drive is connected, and that your AC adapter is plugged in.
